Fences – Clean-up your icon clutter.

Fences like every other great thing is born out of necessity. A cluttered desktop is inefficient, and annoying… but keeping a desktop organized is a taxing job… especially with the desktop being the most convenient file folder ever. Adding multiple screens, or frequent resolution changes into the mix and it isn’t really possible… until the release of Fences.

To be 100% honest, I cannot function without this program. It’s currently a community beta, the real version will be released soon with basic (free) and pro (paid) versions. I’m am way to Scottish to pay for anything I don’t have to pay for… and I know I’ll seriously consider it when the time arrives.

Fences™ is a program that helps you organize your desktop and can hide your icons when they’re not in use. A “Fence”, a term coined by this program, is an icon group on your desktop. Fences is an add-on to your desktop, not a replacement.

Honestly I trust me on this… just download it. It’s so worth it. However, for some proof a demo video after the break.

Running TweetDeck @ startup!

I use TweetDeck. I think it’s a great app and it’s lots of fun. It runs on Adobe’s AIR platform, and easily let’s you do all your twittering from yout desktop.

TweetDeck is your personal browser for staying in touch with what’s happening now, connecting you with your contacts across Twitter, Facebook and more.

TweetDeck shows you everything you want to see at once, so you can stay organised and up to date.

It however seems to lack a load at startup option. Which really stinks for most twitter-heads. No problem. Here is how you add TweetDeck (or any program really) to startup on vista.

Find your TweetDeck icon and Copy it. (right click > copy)
Click the Start button, then All Programs, and scroll down until you find “Startup”.
Right click on the “Startup” folder and choose “Open”.
Then Paste the copied icon into that folder and you’re done!

You can restart your computer now to see it pop open by itself, or just wait until you actually need to turn it off. Next time you’re at your computer you’ll be all caught up with you’re tweets.
